Asheville Commercial Construction FAQ

In and around the Asheville area, we most commonly see commercial construction projects like business structures such as offices, retail centers, warehouses, and industrial buildings. Given the tourism draw to the Asheville area, more hotels, restaurants, and craft breweries have been built in recent years. As with residential building, commercial construction is a project overseen and built by a general contractor with expertise in commercial building.

Generally speaking, construction services include all costs to perform, supervise, manage, and administer physical construction work. We manage all aspects of the project, from acquiring materials and permits to hiring and scheduling subcontractors and vendors. We take it a step further, too, by participating in the pre-building phase of the project, such as working with architect to develop a design for a structure you can afford to build. As a partner in your vision, we always prefer to start working on the project in the pre-build phase to ensure we can fulfill your vision.

Pre-building phase services go well beyond working with your architect and estimating what a project will cost. Our pre-building services include everything from initial client meetings to plan reviews, scheduling, various studies such as soil and perc testing, value engineering, permitting, site walk-throughs, and more.

The main difference between residential and commercial construction projects is in name only because we use the many of the same techniques to build a home as we do a commercial building. Residential construction refers to housing, whether a house, apartments, condominiums, among others. Commercial construction involves industrial facilities, warehouses, medical offices, restaurants, and business establishments.

As with residential construction, the cost is wholly dependent upon the project. When creating a cost estimate, we consider everything from size and scope of the project, materials, and the resources required to build the project. We can provide the most accurate cost estimate when we have a set of construction drawings from the architect.
