Working with Asheville Construction Companies

The construction industry is one of the largest industries and employers in Western North Carolina. Asheville construction companies directly and indirectly employ thousands of people: tradesmen and women, electricians, carpenters, graders, plumbers, HVAC technicians, roofers, masons, and countless others. Asheville construction companies can build or renovate just about anything from homes and commercial buildings to roadways and bridges.

What Asheville construction companies do

In short, Asheville construction companies build things. Most Asheville construction companies build homes, multifamily residential buildings, commercial buildings like shopping centers, medical facilities, and airports. Some Asheville construction companies build or repair roads, bridges, and other infrastructure. For this post, we’re going to focus on building residential and commercial structures because that’s our area of expertise.

From our perspective, the really good Asheville construction companies are comprised of expert project managers who have excellent communication and organizational skills. There’s a lot of juggling, too, such as cost, labor, materials, and time for each construction project to run efficiently and with minimal hiccups.

Working with Asheville construction companies

Generally speaking, Asheville construction companies coordinate and manage every aspect of the construction process, from materials, scheduling, activities, and personnel involved in every stage of the project’s lifecycle. As a fourth-generation construction company, we have a well-honed, three-phased process to make it easy to work with us.

Phase One: The Consultation

As one of the premier Asheville construction companies building custom luxury homes and commercial buildings, we take our responsibilities seriously, from the finest details to any major concern. It’s critical we start strong with the proper foundation rooted in trust for our working relationship. This phase is our opportunity to demonstrate to you our integrity and confidence in our work.

  1. During the initial consultation, we learn everything we can about your project and your vision. We provide resources as needed, such as architects, construction lenders, interior designers, and the like. After this meeting, you’ll have a solid idea of what it’s like working with us – our professionalism, our integrity, our transparency.
  2. During the design process, we work collaboratively with the architect to provide honest perspective and feedback that shows up later as immense value when we prepare the construction-ready estimate. Some clients choose to purchase blueprints, and we work with them to customize the design to achieve their unique vision.
  3. When preparing a construction-ready estimate, we start with a preliminary estimate to ensure the design and cost are in line with your expectations. After construction drawings are ready, we get to work on building a finely tuned estimate and develop a detailed project timeline. We also focus on building a partnership in trust, expectations, and participation.

Phase Two: Construction

Now we get to the fun part, building! Since Asheville and the surrounding areas are such a great place to call home, a lot of people are moving to the area. As a result, nearly all of the Asheville construction companies are busy with new homes or renovation projects. The industry is thriving here, and construction jobs are plentiful.

Our staff of experienced project managers, field managers, and crew is organized, detail-oriented, and exceptional problem solvers. Field managers are our day-to-day point of contact with clients, and they leverage our project management system to provide daily project updates.

  1. We obtain all the various construction-related permits once a contract is in place to build the home or commercial building. When a community or subdivision requires specific approvals, we’ll work with clients to submit the plans and other requirements to obtain approval.
  2. For most of our clients, the selections process is the fun part. Our team guides clients through deciding on and ordering what goes outside and inside the project while helping to tie the home together with a theme and style.
  3. We work diligently at cost management because we respect client budgets. We do our best to prevent surprises and cost creep. Yet, when circumstances mandate a change, we are proactive and transparent in our communication to help clients make the best decision.

Phase Three: Completion

It’s always a great day when we get to hand our clients the keys to their new home. Our goal is a 100% complete project.

  1. While we do at least three quality inspections during construction, we will complete a final quality inspection before clients take possession, because – you know – high standards.
  2. Our field managers will provide clients with a thorough orientation of the home or commercial building. Every window, door, faucet, appliance, system etc. will be checked during the orientation to confirm everything looks and performs as expected.
  3. Like most Asheville construction companies, we provide a one-year builder warranty for all our projects. After six months, we’ll schedule a walk-through to ensure everything is functioning properly and take care of anything minor that may come up as the house settles. We’ll do it again at the one year mark, too.

When You’re Ready to Build

We’re fortunate to be among the top Asheville construction companies, and we work hard to earn our clients’ trust by providing a smooth, transparent building process.
